Busy Week

By ian

It’s been quite a busy week, and I’ve got a busy day planned tomorrow.

Early this week, I successfully launched, then successfully crashed the Ektron DevCenter. One of the engineers came over and it’s starting to get quite frustrating, but it’s understandable with the amount we’re pushing the CMS. We’re also working on the first prototypes for the next project, a portal system for our partners. Overall this project has been tough, but in the end it will be very worth it, Ektron has a lot of good developers and this will provide a much needed space for collaboration.

Yesterday, I had lunch with Chris Messina and Tara Hunt. It was a great opportunity to talk with them about BarCampManchester and other things about general web development in the state. It’s nice to talk to the people behind the things I see on the web. So far through various conferences, I have had a chance to meet a lot of the infulentialish web peeps and for the most part they’re genuinely excited and interested in what people are doing on the web.

Tonight I have the second planning meeting for BarCampManchester. We have to discuss some more details about scheduling and more importantly, find a new venue. I found a great place in the Millyard, but it unfortunately flooded last week.

Tomorrow, I’m going to be having some BarCamp related meetings in the morning and I’ve been invited to speak to a class at Boston University tomorrow about CSS and standards-based design.

Overall, this week has been very busy, but quite productive. It’s helped take my mind off of last week.
