BarCamp Manchester, Mix07, Thanksgiving and More

So I’ve a got a lot of stuff to blog about and not a lot of time to blog. Here’s a quick overview of stuff that I will hopefully get back to later this week.

BarCampManchester was awesome

BarCampManchester went even better than expected. Over 70 people attended, almost every time slot had a session, and I met some great new people. I’ll write a dedicated BarCampManchester review soon. I’m also working on a major reorg of www.barcampmanchester.org.

Mix07

Many of you may remember Mix06, Microsoft’s big web 2.0 conference. I was robbed in their CSS contest due to a poorly timed post about one of the judges (see http://ian.sundermedia.com/index.php/2006/03/29/robert-scoble-is-a-moron/). Well, Microsoft just posted the new Mix07 site at www.visitmix.com.

For me this raises 2 questions. Why did they feel the need to break my Mix06 submissions? Will they do a design contest for Mix07? Hopefully they do a contest, since the judge I offended no longer works for Microsoft.
